Christina Daniels and
Patrick Cropsey were the top finishers for the Loyola University Maryland men's and women's cross country teams on Friday evening as the Greyhounds competed at the Bison Open hosted by Bucknell University.

Daniels was 34
th among women's finishers (14:47.3), while Cropsey was 46
th (19:56.0) on the men's side. The meet was unscored on the team race.
"Overall, the meet was very encouraging for us," said Head Coach
Amy Horst. "Both teams raced well, and we had great showings from a couple freshmen, in particular
Grayce Heinemann in her first cross country race ever;
Patrick Cropsey led the men with great confidence and control. We are at a point where we know we have work to do and are in a position to do so. We are looking forward to taking the preseason momentum forward as we continue preparing for championship season."

Mary Sutton covered the 4,000-meter course in 15:08.27 to finish 52
nd, and a group of four Loyola runners all crossed the finish line within seven seconds of each other shortly thereafter.
Kayleigh Caggiano was 66
th (15:24.5),
Grayce Heinemann took 72
nd (15:28.7),
Kelly Williamson was 73
rd (15:29.0), and
Audrey O'Neill took 76
th (15:31.2).

In the men's race, Cropsey's fellow freshman
Jake Fowler was the Greyhounds' No. 2 finisher, taking 88
th overall (20:52.3).
Brandon Rossi was right behind in 91
st (20:52.3).

Four Loyola men were within seven spots of each other after Rossi.
Ethan Bassett was 100
th (21:14.2),
Alex Buchholz took 102
nd (21:33.3),
Tyler Schoch was 105
th (21:41.5), and
Nathan Galloway finished 107
th (21:52.7).

The Greyhounds will continue their preseason preparations and race again on Saturday, September 15, the U.S. Naval Academy.
