STATEN ISLAND – Loyola University Maryland women's track and field flipped the calendar to 2019 and had its first competition of the calendar year on Saturday at the Great Dane Classic at the Ocean Breeze Sports Complex.
The Greyhounds had four top-10 finishes at the competition, led by
Senna Ohlsson's sixth-place time in the 500 meters. Ohlsson ran 1:16.50, the fifth-fastest time in school history; she now owns all five of the fastest times in that indoor event.
Audrey O'Neill was eighth in the 1,000 meters, running 3:05.78.
Courtney Kenny had a top-10 finish in the 400 meters, placing 10
th in 59.28, just in front of
Molly Smith's 12
th-place time of 59.58.
Kayleigh Caggiano was 10
th in the 800 meters, running 2:19.65, to just edge teammate
MaryEllen Woods who was 11
th in 2:20.10.
Gabrielle Silvestri recorded a time of 2:26.27 to finish 20
th in the event.
Gillian Blackwood ran a time of 9.58 in the 60-meter hurdles to finish 14
th, and
Bre Mucius was 26
th in 10.66.
Katherine Schramm led the Greyhounds in the 60 meters, running 8.36 to finish 24
th, while Smith was 28
th in 8.43.
Kelly Williamson finished the mile in 5:26.84, good for 37
th place, and
Sydney Votruba was 52
nd in 5:44.31.
Carly Spinnler was 19
th in the 500 meters with a time of 1:21.55, and
Tara Ryan ran 3:17.34 to take 20
th in the 1,000 meters.
Kenny and Smith led the Greyhounds in the 200 meters. Kenny ran 26.44 to finish 38
th, and Smith was 62
nd in 27.19.
Three Loyola runners finished in the top-30 of the 3,000 meters.
Christina Daniels led the way in 24
th (10:44.12), while
Mary Sutton was 28
th (10:54.14) and
Courtney Wallace took 29
th (10:55.65).
