BALTIMORE – Loyola University Maryland men's and women's swimming and diving set six meet records, three pool records and a pair of program records on Saturday as the Greyhounds stretched out their lead at the H2ounds Invitational.
Joe Hayburn and
Brennan Coyle broke program records and swam NCAA B Cuts in the 100 backstroke and 100 breaststroke, respectively, part of the slew of records.
The two were also a part of the Greyhounds' men's team setting a pool and meet record in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:19.05 along with
Liam Schindler and
Derek Feldman.
Riley Fried swam a meet records in the women's 400 individual medley (4:24.72), while
Luke Dwyer (47.61 )and Collin Davis (1:38.30) recorded meet marks in the 100 butterfly and 200 freestyle.
In the women's 100-yard butterfly,
Christine Datovech finished second with a time of 54.80, while
Maeve Brandenburg placed sixth in 56.08 and
Natalie Lomonosov was ninth in 56.67.
The Greyhounds continued their success in the 400-yard individual medley, where
Riley Fried captured the title in 4:24.72. Loyola swept the next five spots, with
Noelle Hoffman (4:32.58),
Grace Dwyer (4:32.63),
Julia Mason (4:33.06),
Kate O'Brien (4:33.22), and
Elsie Bredbenner (4:37.38) finishing fourth through eighth, and
Ellie Davis taking ninth in 4:38.54.
Michela Schultz led the way in the 200-yard freestyle, winning gold in 1:50.59.
Lauren Lane was third in 1:52.96, and
Cecilia van Lierop finished ninth in 1:54.20.
In the 100-yard breaststroke, Loyola's trio of
Meghan Donovan (1:03.05),
Hannah Oslislo (1:03.44), and
Bryce Gold (1:03.67) placed second, third, and fifth, respectively, with
Riley McGerald taking eighth in 1:05.17.
The Greyhounds also excelled in the 100-yard backstroke, as
Maeve Brandenburg placed fifth in 56.58,
Virginia Walsh was sixth in 57.07,
Kelly Bruen seventh in 57.09, and
Grace Dwyer ninth in 57.36.
Loyola's A relay team of Schultz, Datovech,
Gianna Davis, and
Haley Robinson won the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:32.30.
Cali Fasser took first in women's 3-meter diving with 238.65 points,
Kate Mundorf was fourth (222.05),
Annie Dockx fifth (218.20), and
Kassidy Georgevich sixth (214.95).
On the men's side,
Luke Dwyer set a meet record in the 100-yard butterfly, winning in 47.61.
Liam Schindler was second in 47.92,
Cameron Shinnick sixth in 48.85,
Hans van Lierop seventh in 49.31, and Patrick Ciorna eighth in 49.32.
In the 400-yard individual medley,
Cody Miles took first in 3:54.99,
Kiernan Leary was third in 3:56.02,
Kaden Fatta fifth in 3:58.12, and
Floyd Conlin seventh in 3:59.71.
Loyola's men also shined in the 200-yard freestyle, with
Colin Davis winning in 1:38.30,
Gavin Abelende third in 1:38.47,
Luke Dwyer fifth in 1:39.25,
Thomas Cechini sixth in 1:39.98,
Hayden Bartz seventh in 1:40.09, and Pierre Leroy eighth in 1:41.35.
Brennan Coyle broke the meet and pool records in the 100 breeststroke with a 52.04,
Michael Venit was second in 53.70,
Derek Feldman fourth in 54.33,
Jack Hathaway sixth in 55.22, and
Elias Corn seventh in 56.02.
In the 100-yard backstroke,
Joe Hayburn set the record with a 46.06 in the prelimts and then won the final in 46.27;
JD Moyer was second in 47.60,
Ben Schlotterer third in 48.73, Shinnick seventh in 50.08, and
Tyler Knurek eighth in 50.20.
Loyola's A relay of Hayburn, Coyle, Schindler, and Feldman set a meet and pool record in the 200-yard freestyle relay, winning in 1:19.05.
In men's 1-meter diving,
Thomas McCarthy placed third with 250.25 points,
Ethan Horutz was seventh (221.90),
Sam Hersick eighth (203.70), and
George Ligozio ninth (198.25).
Loyola leads the women's team race with 2,034 points and the men's with 2,356. The conclude will conclude Sunday.
